The exhibition No sonho do homem que sonhava, o sonhado acordou curated by the students of the second year class of the Master's degree in Curatorial Studies of the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra, integrated the converging program from the first half of Anozero’21–22 – Coimbra Biennial of Contemporary Art and gathered works from new artists in collaboration with UmbigoLAB.
The exhibition reflects on the vicious cycles of thinking. The cycle is a figure that has always been associated with eternity and the divine, and it also takes on the meaning of the endless cycle of creation in this exhibition. Like in The Circular Ruins by Jorge Luis Borges, where there is a desire to «…dream a man; he wanted to dream him in minute entirety and impose him on reality.», here too ideas take shape returning the gaze of the viewer. The works presented summon the night — that hides and reveals — through different media and from a plural body of national and international artists.
The exhibition opened on November 27th, 2021, and ran until January 17th, 2022, at the Círculo Sede of the Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, and featured an activity program of mediation: launching Umbigo magazine and a screening of 16mm films belonging to the CAPC collection, in the Sala das Caldeiras and in collaboration with Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente (TAGV).
