In 2026F020 or a chair on the path, Nuno Sousa Vieira presents a group of works spanning painting, video, drawing and sculpture, including interventions in objects appropriated from his everyday surroundings. The exhibition is on view at Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra – Círculo Sereia, opening on 26 September 2026 at 6 pm and running until 19 December 2026. It can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, between 2 and 6 pm.

The exhibition brings together new works, existing works and works transformed after having been shown — a recurring procedure in the artist’s process. Movement, passage, transience, instability and indeterminacy are both subject and programme along Nuno Sousa Vieira’s path. Along this path, the verb is a structuring principle. 2026F020 or a chair on the path explores doubling and folding as ways of investigating the double. The double is the simultaneity of the same and the other.

In Nuno Sousa Vieira’s work, to double is to repeat and distinguish; to fold is to show and hide. A simultaneity opens up between other forces, brought together without being unified, belonging to one another without cancelling each other out. 2026F020 or a chair on the path envelops those who move through the exhibition, inviting them to inhabit the place between those forces, as when the ground gives way beneath our feet. As the artist says: “Art is the event between each of us and the world.”
