Sara Bichão (Lisbon, 1986) has a Bachelor's (2008) and a Master's (2011) degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. Bichão has also participated in several art residencies, such as Residency Unlimited (2022, NewYork); Finisterrae (2022, Ouessant); Cité Internationale des Arts, (2019, Paris); and Centro ADM (2016, Mexico City). She was funded by the Institut français du Portugal (2019, 2022), the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2014),and the Luso-American Development Foundation (2022). Some of her solo exhibitions are Qual é a coisa, Qual é ela, Galeria Filomena Soares(2020); Encontra-me, mato-te, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2018); and, Coastal, Barbara Davis Gallery (2017). Furthermore, her collective exhibitions include Twin Islands, CAC Passerelle/Carpintarias de S. Lázaro (2022); Traverser La Nuit, MAAT (2022); Clorophilia, Porta33 (2021); and, Storytelling, MAC Lyon (2019). Bichão’s works are featured in some public collections like the Fondation Antoine de Galbert, the Coleção de Arte Contemporânea do Estado (CACE), the Luso-American Development Foundation, the PLMJ Foundation, the EDP Foundation – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Fundação Carmona e Costa, and the MidFirst Bank.
