João Ferro Martins, born in 1979, lives and works in Lisbon. The basis of his works is three-dimensional compositions and issues related to painting and music, in addition to developing various activities regarding spoken word, performance, and video. João Ferro Martins graduated in Fine Art at Caldas da Rainha School of Arts and Design – Polytechnic of Leiria, and aside from many solo exhibitions, he has participated in collective exhibitions, such as: the EDP Foundation's New Artists Award, Porto (2013); I wish this was a song: Music in Contemporary Art, Nasjonalmuseet, Museet for Samtidskunst, Oslo (2012); 7 Artistas ao 10.º Mês, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon (2008). He is also the co-creator and interpreter of the stage performances O Declive e a Inclinação and A Morte nos Olhos, along with Alexandre Pieroni Calado. Apart from producing original soundtracks for theater and film since 2013, João Ferro Martins is also a co-founder of the collective A kills B, alongside Hugo Canoilas. This collective was present at: the Nam June Paik Art Center, Seul (2008); the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with the exhibition A mata B, Lisbon (2012); and at Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013).
