Diogo Bolota was born in Lisbon, the city where he works. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2012 and completed his MA Drawing from the University of the Arts of London in 2013.
He has been exhibiting his work since 2014. Among the group exhibitions, the following stand out: Listening in search of sound, Consulate General of Portugal in São Paulo (2019); Middle name, Housing (2018); Cidade Jardim, Diferença Gallery (2017); Babel, Miguel Justino Contemporary Art (2015); and Chamfered Canto, Espaço Avenida 211 (2014).
Individually, he explained A. Infamiliarity of things, C.A.M.A in São Paulo (2014), C'est quoi cette danse?, Dialogue Gallery Lisbon (2024); Defect Defect, Abrantes Contemporary Art Headquarters (2020); Sinalefa, Mu.sa (2016); Esgaravatar, Medeiros e Almeida House Museum (2016); Objecute, Geological Museum (2016); and sabotage, The Island in Bad Habits (2015).
He has participated in several artistic residencies and his work has been published in Caixa Negra (Saco Azul) and in the publishing house of the Serralves Foundation.
In 2017, he was nominated for the Novo Banco Revelação award, Serralves Foundation.
In 2019, he was artist-in-residence at the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation.
In 2024, he was resident at Arte Serrinha in São Paulo.
