Anabela Veloso is a Portuguese artist with a multidisciplinary practice. She uses a variety of media, such as installation, sculpture, photography, performance and participatory actions. Graduated from the RoyalDanish Academy of Fine Arts and the Escola de Belas Artes do Porto, she has been developing an artistic practice that reflects her recurring feeling of powerlessness in the face of social and political issues.
Her work speculates on notions of the collective, pointing to gaps and cracks in organizational systems and the empathy and love shared within a tight group. Her practice deconstructs or enables relationships to suggest the collective as a space for speculating, revealing, dialoguing and listening.
Her artistic career includes exhibitions in Portugal, Denmark, Sweden and Austria, including the Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), the Thorvaldsens Museum (Copenhagen), the Tanzquartier Wien (Vienna) and the Serralves Museum (Porto).
